Markin Tubing is one of the few manufacturers that buy low carbon steel in coils rather than pre-slit. Slitting the steel in-house has several advantages. In-house slitting allows Markin Tubing to rapidly respond to changing customer production requirements without waiting for an outside processor. Markin Tubing can set up, slit and have material to our tube mills in hours. In-house slitting results in less edge contamination from storage and transportation. Markin Tubing operates our slitter schedule on a JIT basis, providing the best edge conditions possible for high weld integrity.

Additionally, in-house slitting enables Markin Tubing to trace each coil or length of tube back to the master coil. Our internal tracking system allows us to trace the information back to the date the material was processed, slit and back to the original melt information.
